Vintage 1930s C. Bucherer Art Deco Swiss Made Clock – Chrome & Blue Skyscraper Style (Not Running)

$325.00

This valuable clock is a stunning, authentic 1930s Swiss Art Deco mechanical desk or mantel clock by the luxury timepiece and jewelry maker C. Bucherer. The clock features a classic geometric skyscraper silhouette that speaks to the Streamline Moderne era. The Bucherer company was founded in 1888 by Carl Friedrich Bucherer, who opened a store in Lucerne, Switzerland. His unique business approach merged unique artistic designs with the precise engineering of Swiss clockmaking. Until it was acquired by Rolex, Bucherer stood as one of the oldest luxury Swiss watchmakers continuously held and operated by its original founding family. Today, the brand's manufacturing wing still produces ultra-luxury watches under the name Carl F. Bucherer.

The housing is a bright, highly polished chrome frame in excellent vintage condition, with a few small areas of wear. As the photographs indicate, the base there is stippling, there is a gold mark on the right side, and some light scratches and corner wear on the base. The side wings are stepped geometric glass or agate in Williamsburg blue.

The dial is a rectangular textured silver-champagne face with stylized Art Deco numeric typography and ornate hands which may have been luminescent. It is marked "C. Bucherer" and "8 Days." This indicates that the clock was intended to run approximately one week or so after winding. Standard mechanical clocks of the day required daily winding. A Swiss eight-day movement featured a highly specialized, elongated mainspring contained inside a barrel that stored enough kinetic energy to run for a full week without compromising accuracy.

Excellent vintage condition, with no cracks, chips, or fractures in the blue glass or translucent agate segments or clock face. The back has pitting and light discoloration in the chrome.

**Please study all the photos to assess the exact cosmetic condition.**

Mechanical: SOLD AS-IS / NOT RUNNING. The clock is not ticking after winding. It is being sold strictly as a decorative object, prop, or a restoration project for a collector, clock enthusiast, art deco admirer, or horologist.

Dimensions:
The base is 6 3/4 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide. The clock height is 3 1/4 inches. The clock face measures 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches.

This is an exceptional, investment-grade clock that is a beautiful example of Art Deco design. Please note, restoration of internal elements may cost $200 to $400. A working clock of this design and in this condition is generally worth over a thousand dollars.

Item will be packed with extreme care using professional wrapping materials to ensure the clock with its chrome, specialized face, base, and glass elements are protected. Shipping includes tracking and insurance. Please reach out to the shop with any questions.
