Antique Arts & Crafts - Gothic Revival Metal Lamp - Fairy Tudor Tolkien Folk Art Vibe

This vintage Arts and Crafts or Gothic Revival wrought iron table lamp is an unaltered antique with its original shade and plug. The bulb has been replaced but matches the vibe of the lamp well; flickering "candle" bulbs are also a popular choice. This specific style of lamp is sometimes known as a "Witch Hat" or Tudor style and it was most likely made in the 1930s. It features a hand-hammered or cast metal base with stylized leaves along with a curved arm from which the fluted conical metal shade hangs. These lamps were produced primarily in the period of the 1920s to the 1940s. It has a Leviton fat switch (marked) with the matching molded brown Leviton "EZ-Grip" plug. The switch is firm with a distinct click, indicating the socket and switch are in good working order. The lamp is 9 1/2 inches tall and the base is about 4 1/2 inches wide. The "hat" shade is about 4 inches wide.

The base shows a beautifully preserved dark verdigris patinated iron finish. The dark brown cord and plug are in pristine condition. The light socket under the curved leaves has a few minor scuffs (pictured). There are no marks or issues with the arm, ring, or shade (pictured). When the lamp is on, the scuffs on the lamp's socket are not very visible. The nest of leaves base has a few small spots of light rust (pictured). These are part of the natural patina but would probably scrub off if desired. This is an unusual piece and fits a number of styles. Whether you view it as part of the Mission or Arts and Crafts movement, a gothic piece with a touch of fairy core or Tolkien drama, or an homage to the days of the Tudors and candle light, it adds interest and an ambient glow to any room in the house.
