This gold and black ice bucket will elevate any bar space or midcentury modern room with its shiny "disco" gold foil sides, cushiony "patent leather" vinyl top, fabulous lid knob, and lucite handle with a gold ribbon accent. The bucket is in very good condition and appears to be unused. The inside, bottom, layered trim edges, and top show little to no wear. Of note in regard to condition are: a tiny smudge on the gold foil pattern, an area where two foil panels do not align perfectly, faint scratches on the knob, and some haze on the handle screws (all pictured). Please look at all the photographs for the best assessment of the ice bucket's appearance and condition, as the photos are an essential part of the description.
The design is in the manner of Georges Briard but the piece is unmarked. Georges Briard was the professional name of Jascha Brojdo, an American designer in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, known for his signature glassware, barware, and dishes, which often incorporated gold features and designs. This is a large ice bucket, standing nearly 12 inches tall with its handle. The bucket alone is 7 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall. The inside of this piece and underside of the lid is bright white plastic. The bucket lid knob is a very interesting shape; it's a hollow space-age cylinder with a postmodernist flair. The lucite handle with its gold stripe is not damaged or worn. Overall, this is a super eye-catching and unique find in great condition. It gives James Bond and Mad Men vibes with its unapologetically glitzy glamour.
