The sancai style predominates in this intricate and lifelike piece, a vintage Chinese export porcelain figurine likely dating from the 40s to the mid-20th century. The classic three colors are green, amber/brown, and a creamy yellow-white. The handpainted detail shows craftmanship in the feathering and the bird's eye is quite realistic. The ceramic glaze features a high gloss, with areas where different colored glazes mingle and flow into each other, as seen on the green base. Birds of prey, parrots, and ducks perched on rocky outcrops are very common subjects for these decorative sancai-style figurines. It stands about 3 3/4 inches tall and is about 2 inches at the base. There are no chips or cracks. It is stamped China inside the base (pictured). This piece is in excellent vintage condition and the colors are lovely. Add this to your collection or gift it to a special someone.
