Murano Style Abstract Mid-Century Art Mottled Glass - Stargazing Elk Deer or Reindeer

$70.00

The style could be attributed to Murano (Italian) or a similar European art glass tradition, such as Swedish or Finnish. It features "macchia" (dense mottling) and "aventurine" (gold or colored flecks) encased in clear glass.

Symbolism: In glass art, deer looking upward often represent guidance, hope, and connection to the celestial or spiritual realm.

This item is a handcrafted art glass figurine, designed as an elk, reindeer or deer with green flecks and controlled bubbles within a clear glass body. It is a handcrafted art glass figurine or paperweight in the style of Murano glass. The design is an abstract, minimalist deer or elk with intricate antler details. It has unique swirls and color patterns due to handblowing. It is quite heavy. The base is unmarked. There are small bubbles, flecks of gold, and small lines of brown interspersed in the green mottling (pictured). The glass is likely lead glass as it throws light very well. The piece has no flaws of note and stands about 4 1/2 inches tall. It is 1 inch across the base and 3 1/2 inches across. The green ranges from moss to grass green and changes with the light and surroundings. This is a really stunning piece.

The pose of the animal suggests it is stargazing, which has significance in some cultures. I am unable to find another piece identical to this one and suspect it may be one of a kind, designed and crafted by a single artist rather than mass produced.
