These vintage salt and pepper shakers are identifiable as the Shawnee Pottery Puss N Boots kittens, popular mid-century American ceramic collectibles. They were made by the Shawnee Pottery Company in Zanesville, Ohio, most likely in the late 40s or 50s. They are cream-white glazed ceramic kittens featuring painted red bows and blue butterfly or flower details on their heads. The glaze is shiny and there is no crazing or cracks. These two do NOT have cork stoppers. Each are about 3 1/2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. One kitten has a shallow CHIP on the underside that is also visible where its front paw meets the ground (pictured). Shawnee Pottery actively produced pottery from 1937 to 1961. These pieces are getting harder to find. This pair is free from discoloration, scuffs, or significant signs of use. A great addtion to a collection or to display.
**Please note, there is one chip on the underside of one of the kitten's paws that is just visible from the side.*** Please see all the photos as this small flaw can be seen upon inspection.
