Italian Majolica Vintage Multicolored Handpainted Vase

$83.00

This is a hand thrown, hand-painted ceramic vase featuring a traditional Riccò or similar polychrome appearance. The design is a common style of Italian majolica pottery, an excellent collectible. It is marked Made in Italy (pictured) with an artist's signature. It features a vibrant, traditional floral design with a cream-white background and a glazed terra-cotta brown rim and base. The style is consistent with traditional Italian or Sicilian pottery from regions like Caltagirone or Deruta, and due to the paper tag on this vase, it dates from the 40s or early 50s. It has incised (etched) and painted marks, though the main decoration is painted on the surface. The piece has stray marks and unique glazing identifiers that occurred during manufacture, mostly on the inside rim and lower third. All of these are pictured; please examine the detailed photographs for the best idea of the condition and appearance of the piece. There are no chips, cracks, or issues; no crazing can be noted. The interior is clean and free of significant discoloration. The vase is 8 3/4 inches tall and the mouth measures 5 inches across. At its widest point, the vase is about 8 inches across, and the base measures about 3 inches. The florals and scrollwork colors include turquoise, avocado, blue, terra cotta brown, and candy red.
