This fused dichroic glass jewelry set has a pendant necklace and two pierced stud earrings. The chain is approximately 30 inches in total length (dropping about 14.5 inches from the neck) and is a thin silver snake-mesh link. The pendant has a light peach aurora borealis crystal as a collar and then a figured silver ball above the glass bottle. The glass bottle stands about 1 3/4 to 2 inches tall and is 1/2 inch wide. The earrings have silver backs and are a deeper iridescent green, blue, and gold. The earrings are 1/2 inch across. Please see all the detailed photos for the best appreciation of the appearance, condition, and how each piece complements the others without matching in the traditional sense. The piece is unmarked and may have sterling silver components.
This set can be worn together or separately. It has a striking, iridescent appearance due to the way light reflects off the fused glass layers. Dichroic glass is created by artisans who layer metal oxides or iridescent foil between pieces of glass and fire them in a kiln. This process gives the glass components a unique, color-dynamic sparkly appearance, much like dragonfly wings, rainbow glitter, or holographic images. The colors in the earrings will appear to change, often shifting between deep green, blue, gold, cobalt, and purple shades, depending on the angle of the light and the background. These are typically handcrafted artisan pieces, meaning each pair can have slight variations in design and color pattern, making them unique. The bottle has a light tan dappled area on the bottom, mimicking the beach, ocean waves, or even a lost message in a sandy bottle. This is a great set from the height of the dichroic craze in the 1990s. It evokes cosmos, boho, beach, and naturalist vibes.
