What a spectacular set. The chairs have swivel iron bases, wood armrests, and vinyl upholstered seats. This set of six chairs with the table base has the Selrite sticker from 1971 (pictured) on the underside of one chair. The frame finish is black; the color is cactus (a deep avocado); the pattern is stampede (the vinyl has a subtle marbling). The set includes the original matching black iron table frame. The vinyl upholstery has a medium gloss. On the back of the chairs hexagonal tacks were used. The original large glass tabletop is present too but the glass has numerous flaws and was not photographed. Richard McCarthy was a key designer for Selrite and his influence is seen widely in midcentury modern furniture. The biomorphic shapes, organic colors with the use of wood accents, and the interplay of curved iron are unmistakable. To say this set is rare is an understatement.

This exceptional set does have a few flaws. One of the chair bases has surface rust; there are a few tiny tears in the vinyl in three or four of the chairs; two of these flaws were unfortunately repaired in the past with glue or tape. The finish on the armrests shows wear. No alterations or modifications have been made recently. Please look at all of the photographs to gain an appreciation of the appearance and condition of the set. More photographs are available on request, as are the dimensions of the glass top (it is quite large and incredibly heavy). It is my belief the table top had a wooden frame upon which the beveled glass top should rest. The table top with four of the best chairs may be an option for a buyer not needing six chairs and this can be discussed. Dimensions: Table - from the ground to the top is 27 inches. Table legs are 26 inches apart. Table top is 13 3/4 inches across. The seats are 16 inches across (diameter of cushion). The wooden seat arms are 25 1/4 across from outside edge to outside edge. The seat backs rise 15 inches from the seat. The seats are 18 inches from the ground. The seat legs are 17 inches apart. The table and chair feet are arranged in a square. The vinyl seat cushions are round.
