This midcentury modern table has a laminate top in wood grain, rounded corners, and silver Shepherd trademark ball casters. Due to the overall design, the table is attributed to Herman Miller for the Eames Aluminum Group. However, it is possible, due to the unique atomic base, that it was designed by Vincent Cafiero for Knoll International as a complement to the Executive Task Chair Model 181, which has very similar legs and caster feet. The table is unmarked; a rectangular label has been removed from the underside. It measures 24 by 24 inches and stands 26 3/4 inches high. The base is original to the table and does not adjust in height. The silver chrome five-star base and column are in very good condition. The casters have a little wear and slight scuffs, but roll easily. Two of the casters have a locking feature. The rounded corners show some slight wear (see photos of each corner).

This table was likely designed for planning or presentations or for tasking or typing in a business or office environment, but it would be equally useful in a kitchen, home library, den, office, or crafting or painting space. The top is unmarred but has a narrow streak of a slightly shinier finish in the center. In ordinary light this is nearly indistinguishable, but some of the pictures were chosen to highlight the area for your inspection. This distinctive, serviceable table combines features of the iconic space-age era with the ease and flexibility of a laminate rolling office piece. It is well made, heavy, and will last for many years to come.
