Pair of Handcarved Mid Century Onyx Calcite Burro Donkey Figurines Pencil Holders

This pair of delightful onyx or calcite burros or donkeys were hand carved in Mexico in the 1960s. The two burros have no chips or flaws. Each is unique, with the distinctive marble patterning typical of such stone pieces. They are about three inches long each and stand about 2 1/2 inches tall. In their baskets are carved holes for pencils or pens. They are heavy enough to be used as paperweights as well.
