This wonderful wash stand has stood the test of time. It has the towel bar and mirror with the original hardware. The drawers are very clean and move freely. The end grain indicates it is made of American Chestnut. It has Knapp joinery, dating the piece from 1870 to 1900 or so. This rare antique is probably close to 145 years old; there is some finish loss and a darker area on the top; see detailed photos. It has small casters, which are original. There is a minor scuff on one of the legs, see close-up photo. The warm golden stain has some variability toward the bottom and on one drawer. There are three drawers; two small and one wide top drawer. There is a cubical compartment with a door and original knob as well. The inside is unfinished, which is typical of the period. The drawer pulls are brass. The mirror no longer has a bright reflective finish. The mirror is attached with its original fasteners, which are in very good condition. The back is not significantly blemished and is stamped "Trim in Ch." This piece is in original, unaltered condition.
